Sean's Scouting Pages

Baloo's Bugle is available here

I've put these pages together to share some of the resources I've accumulated or written over the preceeding years. One of the most rewarding parts of Scouting, for me at least, is teaching leaders, whether it's as part of a basic training course, Roundtable, Cub Leader Powwow, or Wood Badge. I've been fortunate to be able to teach at a number of events throughout Southern California. To the left are links to the various Powwow Handouts I've used in my classes. Feel free to browse them and use what you see fit.

If you're a trainer yourself, looking for some last minute content for a class, browse on over to Powwow Presentations. These are the PowerPoint presentations that I use when I teach a class. You are welcome to adapt them to your needs. I'm a firm believer in Scouting's R&D concept: Rip-off and Duplicate!

If you're a Scout leader who's stumbled upon this page, let me recommend some fabulous online resources to you: Cub Scout Talk and Cub Scout Roundtable are two online discussion groups dedicated to Cub Scout leaders and the various questions and problems they face. There is a wealth of knowledge available here, just waiting to be tapped!

Similarly, if you're a trainer of Scout leaders, the Scout Trainer Discussion Group or Scouter_T is another online discussion group for trainers to ask questions and get all of the latest information about training.

One of my Wood Badge tickets was to create a monthly roundtable reminder newsletter and mail it out each month. Now, four years later, I'm still writing it. I suppose it's known for it's occasionally funny but often bizzare Scouting Top Ten list. Again, being the firm believer in R&D, you're welcome to raid it for ideas for your own district or council publication!

In 2002, I was privileged to attend the mecca of Scout training, the Philmont Training Center. Though they're mostly outdated, I've included links to some of the Philmont resources I collected that summer.

Finally, I have to offer two plugs. The first is for American Scouting Digest, a great publication developed by Scouters, for Scouters. I strongly encourage you to pick up a copy and see what the magazine has to offer. (I write the Cub Leader Roundtable feature!) And last but not least, if you like the web design you see here and would like something similar for your own site, please feel free to visit my business site, Argentive. It pays the bills so I can continue devoting an hour a week to this great cause!

By the way, if you see this text on a plain brown background, and not on a scrolling image of a buffalo, your browser is broken! Download a fully-CSS compliant browser that supports the WWW consortium standards, and which is probably safer than what you're using right now!
